Great book about mindful eating. I enjoyed how simple it is, what it focused on, and the overall message. It will make you give more thought to not only what you eat, but how you go about eating it. Two thumbs up!

As I read this before my morning breakfast, it reminds me to be mindful throughout the day. Being someone who has lived with obesity, and recently had gastric bypass surgery, it is very helpful to my new lifestyle.

I really love anything by Ticht Nhat Hanh, but this book is quite profound. It teaches the ways to eat in order to fully nourish your soul, not just your body. I have loved the insight and the suggestions he provides.

I am rethinking the way I feel about eating for a variety of personal reasons. I wanted to become more mindful about the act of cooking, preparing, eating, giving thanks and this book delivers. I love Thick Nhat Hanh's approach to life, it truly is peaceful and allows one to truly get involved in the process. I am enjoying the book it truly its a sweet spot. The book is short passages, some full paged, some not but every single page brings you closer to understanding the part that eating takes place in our lives.

The book was helpful as a general overview of the sciences that need to be studied. It would have been better with more sample tests and sample questions. I took both tests and diligently compared my errors to the subject areas that I needed to work on. I studied mostly full time for about 2 weeks before taking the test. I read it on my Kindle while my computer had the text also available.I encountered questions that were similar to this book’s sample tests on the actual CLEP test and these were of about the same difficulty, although quite different in their content and structure. I got a 67 on the test, a passing score, and although I was quite familiar with several of the disciplines at one time, I had not studied most of these subjects for over 10 years. I think my score reflected more or less what I was scoring on the various exams I took. I have read Scientific American magazine diligently for many years and I think that may have also helped… Overall, I recommend the book as part of a larger study effort. I also used https : // modern states dot org to help me study. I heartily recommend this as does the CLEP write up on the w w w . college board. o r g site. Hope this helps…

The book is very informative and covers a good amount of information. Natural science is a very broad subject. about 60% of the questions on the actual test i took were not covered in this book or any other practice test i took.

There are dozens of aggravating and distracting typos throughout this book, some of which inhibit my comprehension of the actual sentences. Some of their facts are incorrect (and if an English major is picking up on your science mistakes, that's a huge problem!) and many of the questions on their practice exams refer to information NOT COVERED in the book itself. I have yet to take the CLEP exam, so I cannot say if this book was helpful in the end, but I am going to the CLEP site right now to buy THEIR review materials. Incredibly dissatisfied with this purchase.

It's been a long time since I studied this stuff, and this book just touches the surface of what's in the exam. Nothing too detailed. If you're preparing for CLEP using this book, make sure you studied the material not too long ago. If it has been a while, make sure you don't make this your primary resource. There are some good video lectures online that you could refer to in addition to this. This book seems to be aimed at just "getting you through". If you know you can do better, and genuinely want to do better, then I recommend this book just to skim over topics in the last few days, not to actually learn the material.By the way, the things other reviews mentioned about typos, factual errors, and practice exams referring to stuff not covered in the book. Totally true.

The Kindle edition is filled with typos. Many of them are easy to see, (for example; missingspaces between words) but, some of them are false statements. The false statements are only noticeable if you already know the true information; for example, "electrons have a charge of 21" the truth is they have a charge of -1. I worry that some of the information I've learned from the book is actually false.

Natural Sciences is a very broad subject, so while this book had a lot of informative content, nothing in it was on the CLEP examination I took (so it didn't prove very useful). Even the online practice tests contained questions not covered in the book. How to perform physics equations was also not explained much at all.

Pros: With the practice tests, it gives you a good feel of how the test is going to be.Cons: I am a biology major and so I have a lot more knowledge than this book has to offer. Some of the information it gives is not entirely accurate but it is good enough for this basic test. Also, the online test linked didn't work

I have not taken the exam yet, but I feel that the information about physics is not enough to be prepared for the exam, I might be wrong, because I don't know how deep the exam goes but I feel insecure taking the exam with only this information. I finish reading the physics portion in 3 days that's how short it is. Physics part of the exam in 50%, so you judge!!!

Very disappointed. Do NOT buy the Classic Reprint Series of this book, it is nothing more than a poor quality scan of each page of the original book. The pages are not straight nor do the even fill the page. Pictures are dark, text is unclear. Not worth the paper it is printed on, will be sending it back.

I couldn't believe it when I saw that this cookbook was available as a "new" book (authentic reproduction) again. I received it - probably as a birthday gift? I don't remember - when I was a young child, about 50 years ago. I have always been a cookbook reader, and I spent many happy hours as a child reading this book. So when I saw that it was available again, I eagerly bought a copy for the sake of nostalgia.As an object of nostalgia, I would rate it 5 stars. It looks exactly like the original, and has the same durable and convenient hardcover spiral binding that I remember. Although if you look carefully, you can tell that the cover is from a "photo of a photo," as the image isn't quite as crisp as an original would be. Also, the green glossy material used on the inside of the front & back covers was not in the original. However, everything else about the book is a perfect reproduction.As a 21st-century cookbook for children to use, I'd probably give it only 3 stars. There is a lot about cooking that has changed in the 60 years since this book was first published:* Our understanding of nutrition has improved significantly* We encounter a greater variety of ingredients, especially fresh produce, in our stores* Our food landscape has been enriched by many contributions from nearly every continent and every corner of the earth (I had definitely never heard of hummus or chiles rellenos when I used to read this book on lazy summer afternoons), and* Rather than seeing canned/highly processed foods as exciting miracles of modern culinary technology, we now see them as the less healthy and less tasty versions of food.This cookbook is definitely rooted in the food styles, tastes and knowledge of its mid-20th-century era.That being said, this was a very, VERY good children's cookbook for its era. The recipes are creative, attractive, and often whimsical. There is a LOT of information for a budding cook who doesn't want to just learn a particular recipe, but actually wants to learn how to cook - such as cooking methods and terminology, types of utensils, safety guidelines. It piques the interest through extras like the illustrations (including many gorgeous full-page color glossy photos of finished recipes) and the sidebar tips from the 12 kids who were the "Junior Testers" of all the recipes in the book.So, bottom line:1. If you are an adult who was in love with this book as a kid, buy it.2. If you are thinking of buying it for a child in your life today, I would say go ahead and buy it for its instructional value in the basics of cooking, but give the child a more contemporary children's cookbook at the same time.

My grandma's was falling out of the binding and she could find the chocolate chip cookies with her eyes closed. But this one was in great condition, so I guess I'll have more time to use it to rags. Love this book. And I was not expecting it at the steal of a price I got. I got lucky. 10 stars if I could.

Received the book. It is in remarkable condition for being nearly 30 years old.The cover of the book I received matches the photo on the listing....but not the description. Be forewarned, this book does NOT contain the beautiful photos described in the review. In fact it contains on a very few black and "white" (the book is old) illustrations. Other than feeling a tad bit ripped off that the book is not as described, it is in great, readable condition and appears to have all of it's pages intact. Overall, especially for the price, I am pleased with my purchase. However, the Review/Description should be amended to match this particular book so as not to deceive customers.UPDATE:Just received my other book which is the one in the photo for this listing. It is the 1976 (1969 copyright) Betty Crocker Cookbook with the Pie diagram on the front. This book is in remarkable condition considering it's older than I am. Very happy with this purchase. This one receives 5 stars. The seller sent exactly what was ordered.Apparently several different books are lumped under this one photo/listing/description.

One of my aunts gave me this book when I was seven. My copy is worn to shreds—food stains on every page, cover hanging on by a wire—but I still use it, 45 years later. It’s important enough to have survived many, many moves; sometimes supplanted by the likes of Julia Child and Jacques Pepin; but when I’m called on to bring an Easter dish to a get-together, my thoughts go immediately to the Bunny Salad in this book, and it’s always a hit.How much to love! The recipes are cute and imaginative, fairly simple but delicious. The kitchen tips and advice are stellar for any age. How to set the table? It’s here. How to scramble eggs? Also here. Measuring, stirring, meal prep are all described and illustrated in a most kid friendly format.It’s safe; parental permission and supervision is invoked whenever heat or knives are involved.May I recommend the chocolate pudding? It’s the most stained page in my copy...I just purchased the newest edition for my seven year old grandson. I was thrilled that the cover is exactly the same as mine (though cleaner), and I hope it gives him the beginning of the same lifelong enjoyment of cooking as it gave me.

I had a first edition of this cookbook as a little girl. I have no clue whatever happened to that book, but I am so happy that I found this one. I gave it to my grandkids to have at my home for cooking with grandma. They have all penciled in their names on the pages that they want to cook from with grandma. The book only have drawings rather than photos, but that is fine as the recipes are not all that difficult and it just makes in more exciting for kids to see what the real deal looks like in the end.

This cookbook was purchsed as a gift for a 10 year old girl. She loved the gift and together with her mother, has prepared a couple of the recipes in this book. she said it was really easy to read and understand, and it gave her a list of supplies that was required to make each recipe. The pictures are colorful which makes it even more interesting and eye catching. I, a senior lady, still have my original cookbook just like this which was given to me by my deceased mother. As a child, I loved using it and cooking with my mother's help.

The categories above don't really apply to a massive anthology of plays, essays, poetry, and fiction. I was skeptical of this edition at first: those cheap/free loving-amateur compilations of public domain works after often riddled with typos, but I was pleasantly surprised; I've seen worse inaccuracies in books from major publishers. (The only problem was in that apparently the technology used by at least one transcriber did not support the Greek-language font, and the words Wilde left in the Greek alphabet were omitted; I wish the transcriber had at least tried to transliterate.) Wilde's major work (like the most perfect comedy in the English language, The Importance of Being Earnest) has been reprinted, but some of his essays and plays are simply hard to find outside a Complete Works in a university library. It's interesting to have both versions of The Picture of Dorian Gray in one place; some of his less popular works, like his first play, Vera, turn out to be better reading than I expected. Even the porno novel, Teleny, which the editors admit probably isn't by Wilde but may be a collaborative work by several of his friends, is entertaining: alove story disguised as what the Victorians considered hard-core! There are some early biographical sketches of Wilde that are amusing (though not to be taken with the same authority as a modern biography like Richard Ellmann's): Frank Harris obviously found Wilde as adorable as exasperating and never understood him in the least, and his fellow Irishman Shaw was--typically Shaw. This collection should support Wilde's reputation as one of the world's greatest writers.

Delphi has become my first choice when purchasing collected works of authors and their Oscar Wilde collection is one of several I have purchased from them. I can get public domain works for free, so a seller has to offer something more to convince me to pay for something I could get free. As with Delphi's other collections, this is a first rate product. The works are in one folder, which makes my Kindle library more manageable, but other sellers offer that convenience. The comprehensive, complete public domain contents, active table of contents, numerous photographs, numerous illustrations, biographical information, contextual notes, low price, ability to receive upgrades, etc., set Delphi's collections apart and make them a bargain. The buyer who constantly gives Delphi one-star reviews must have a personal vendetta, because the product is definitely deserving of 5 stars by any objective standards. Collections where copyright laws prevent inclusion of an author's total oeuvre, are as complete as legally possible, and this is not the seller's fault and is not a fraud. The seller clearly states that non-public domain works are not included. The collections are still a bargain, and one can always supplement them by filling in the gaps from other sources. I hope Delphi continues to add more authors to their catalogue, because I prefer their collections to anyone else's. As for the works themselves, this is Oscar Wilde and that says it all--five stars!

His letters and interviews are not included (of course) but if you are looking for his poems, his short stories, or his plays look no further. The book also has two wonderful introductions to Oscar's works. One is written by his son Vyvyan and the other is written by his grandson Merlin.This book is practically perfect in every way except for one and that is the book is a bit small. The size of the book is not so small that you will be severely annoyed but it is certainly not completely comfortable. That being said, a compilation of this quality at the very least warrants the forgiveness of this one minor imperfection.Oscar Wilde is my favorite writer and I am very happy to own this book.

I should write another review for Edgar Allan Poe sometime (I frequently refer to both Poe and Wilde as "The Man")...but first, Oscar Wilde's anthology.Wow, I've probably still more than half of this collection to get through, though I've read "De Profundis" (Mr. Wilde's 80-page letter to Bosie, written while he was in prison) several times. Over, and over, from beginning to end, and for some reason, it gets better and better with each read.As Oscar Wilde states himself (is there a more brilliant wit to quote?): "If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all."I've read some of the poems, as well as "The Canterville Ghost" and "The Portrait of Dorian Gray"...I look forward to re-reading those, and discovering the gems I've missed so far!

Oscar Wilde can turn a phrase and write a double entendre like few others. And he is hilarious. Like Twain, he can point out our foibles and failings, make us cast our eyes down or laugh aloud, or make us cry. A man of flesh and blood and intellect, a man whose life was success and failure, applause and scandal, he could wring every emotion from his audience, having experienced them himself. Read him and weep. And laugh.

The physical craftsmanship of the book was good. Well bound with your typical glossy, flexible soft cover. The book contained many of the great works of Oscar Wilde of which I can now say I am not a fan. It may be because my professor that assigned this reading brought everything in the book back to the topic of sex which at times was disturbing.

Our daughter loves rocks. Reading this book to her made her curious to examine her rocks and compare it to the nice charts provided at the end of the book. The illustration were bright and beautiful. It was easy for my daughter to follow along. Each page provided a fun fact on the bottom of the page and explained the uses of the rocks. Everyone can learn from this book. If your chOld loves collecting rocks the. I recommend this book for your Little Rock collector.

I'm a former teacher who wanted a simple, clear book for my grandson and granddaughter. They are really into rocks right now and this book had great illustrations and easy to understand explanations. The kids are 7 and 9.

I've searched through many K through 3 grade books that introduce rock formation to children. This by far is the best book. Younger children will need to have this book read to them, but the explanations are simple and easy to understand. Experienced readers will be able to read this independently and understand the concepts that are introduced. Give this book and some rocks to any kid. They are sure to be excited!

Not what I was expecting, but I have high expectations for my "science" books. My four-year-old has never shown an interest in this book, but loves his Audubon Society Guide to Rocks and Minerals.

Just reading about the success of author Adachi's previous titles alone made me pick up this first volume. This is the first of his works I've read, but so far I'm willing to give this series a chance.Without giving away the main spoiler in this 3-volume-in-1 release, the story revolves around a young boy, Ko. The first volume covered in this release is more of a backstory on his childhood, floating between his father's sporting goods store and his neighbor's coffee house. Readers are immediately introduced to his love interest in Waka, his neighbor and second oldest of four girls. Waka's interactions with Ko alone are enough to establish that they're gonna be the main pairing you're expecting while reading, but to bring it on home, you also find that they're born on the same day. It'd be cheesy in any other instance, but Adachi makes it work just well enough for readers to tolerate it.... but you'd be wrong to assume this manga is a full-on romance. As suggested by its genre alone (most shonen manga rarely delve that deeply when it comes to romance) its primary focus isn't on the possible couplings throughout the story, but moreso on the action, which in this case is baseball. The latter two volumes covered in this release are different from the first in that focus is less on the romance (which was only done in the first volume more to establish characters than the full story itself) and more on baseball--which will either make or break it when it comes to whether you should buy the release or not.Having read this 3-in-1 release, the overall tone of the series tends to that of your typical sports manga with the smallest doses of romance and suggestiveness (in the chapter title pages alone!) expected from your typical sports manga. Regardless, there's just enough charm for me to continue with the series.

I love the series and I wish H2, Touch, Rough, Katsu, Mix and all of Adachi's works were brought over.

The artwork is classic, the story is engaging (if not a little melancholy). This is a manga for baseball fans, along with shoujo and shonen manga fans. Enjoy!

I loved it! it's a great story of growing up and baseball.If you like baseball or sports manga I'd recommend it to you!
