I got this cookbook recently as a birthday present. This is a well written cookbook laden with traditional Filipino dishes coupled with beautiful and tempting food photos. The instructions are extremely point by point and precise. Clear detailed directions guiding you through each recipe while making you more familiar with the IP cooking terms as you go along. You don’t have to speculate on what to do while cooking in your pot. This cookbook truly inspires me to cook more Filipino dishes given the shortness of time involved in preparing the dishes.

I love how the author gives simple but powerful guidelines on how we need to respect ourselves no matter what.I just broke up with a boyfriend that was all that...handsome, tall, smart, successful, but he was not reciprocating all that I was giving (more than him) so thanks to the advice of this book, I pulled the plug. As Painful as it is, is also empowering because I and only myself decide the kind of relationship I want and I know I deserve unconditional love. Not making excuses because he is handsome and smart and phDoctor all that. He is not treating me right, his mediocre, half butt efforts are not enough...he got kicked to the curb. It hurts but it would hurt more staying with someone undeserving.Thanks to the author for opening my eyes.

Very Enlightening and Horribly Eye Opening at the same time!!I am a 50 year old, educated, successful woman that has been through Hell with men a majority of my life beginning in childhood having been sexually molested by 6 different men. My "adulthood" started with 2 physically and mentally abusive and manipulative relationships and the 3rd I drove away with my harsh and demeaning mentality I had towards men. At the age of 39, I swore off men due to my belief that although I am a very good judge of character with the people I do not have romantic feelings for, I obviously was a total failure at romantic relationships. For 11 years I was very happy, content, and totally single.Then I met a man (Or I thought was a man) that broke down the impenetrable walls that several before him had tried to destroy, but failed miserably! Then due to my insecurities and total shame for what I had already gone through with men I was played and abandoned. This left me more broken than I had been in my life! All of my defenses were crushed and I was left "naked and unarmed", and suffered a total mental breakdown.This book has helped me tremendously in knowing that I am not the only one that has gone through this. AND it made me realize that although there could be men out there that are worthy and will not intentionally set out to harm the broken, insecure, and vulnerable women such as myself! BUT it is up to ME to make sure I receive it without guilt or shame in feeling that I deserve a Good, Honest, Loving Man!!Thank you Mr. Bryans!!

This info had me laughing because it's so true about us men and how we process women and determine if there someone we want or not. Follow these tips women and you will never have to chase men!

If ONLY this book had been available in my 20's, it would have saved me a boat load of misery. Still, at my moderate age of 58 (chuckles), it provided me information that I had never before contemplated or realized. It is very informative and highly educational. I would recommend this book to ALL high school senior girls. It will give them incredible insight on how to select the men who will be a part of their lives.

All I can say is - wow. Thought the title may throw some people off - the contents are brutally honest. In my opinion - it's not about chasing/not chasing men but a thought process overhaul. Much of it I'd heard before & not sure WHY or how reading this really drove the points home - but it did. I started recommending it to SEVERAL people after Chapter 1.

Admittedly, tears of regret stream down my face as I’m battered about by truths I wish I’d known earlier. Then, more tears of compassion for myself folllowed. AND I’M ONLY ON CHAPTER 1 !!How could I have possibly known any better from a childhood of the sort I had? As a child, watching my step father take off his wedding ring before taking me inside a diner where - I learned much later in life - he and one of the very pretty waitresses had a ‘thing’.Couple that with my mom’s EXTREME co-dependent nature toward men. I clearly see now that led me toward constant picking of men who took advantage and tossed me into the “friends with benefits” category almost immediately. Ugh, ugh and ugh. But I let them.I was even married to a man who treated me like that!Enough!Now that I-have a guide shining a light on my mistakes and being given practical advice for what I can do to enforce my personal boundaries, I can move forward In a mo’ betta sort of manner.Girls, I highly recommend this tough love book now. Especially if you know you deserve a loving relationship with a high quality man. After years and years of building up my self esteem and healing my past, this is the one huge piece of the puzzle that’s been missing.Well, not anymore.

This is amazing to look through. The art is stellar and the lore is captivating. While not all faeries were given proper descriptions, you could clearly tell their characteristics just by looking at them. There is some partial nudity, but nothing beyond that. The book is pretty big, so it can't actually fit in my shelf; that's a bummer.The odd thing about the book is the way they chose to divide the Good Faeries from the Bad Faeries. Instead of seamlessly going from front to back (as usual), you actually have to flip the book around. This makes it very inconvenience for me, since my desk space is rather limited.

Froud's art is, as always, tremendously beautiful. There is a uniqueness to his work which makes it exceptionally poignant and unforgettable. He, along with Tony DiTerlizzi, is one of the only artists I know of that have such talent. The reason I'm only giving this four stars, though, is that I was expecting it to be more of a field guide of the Faery world. It's more a collection of Froud's art than anything else. The writing is rather light, and not very fleshed out. Some images don't have an explanation as to what they are representing, and when they do, it is often only a few lines that doesn't tell the reader much. If you're more interested in the art aspect than the lore of the Faery world, or a huge fan of Froud like myself, then buy this book!

Ordered this and got it promptly shipped. Was absolutely beautiful, the book in perfect condition. I adore Brian Froud's work! I would suggest that if you're buying this for children that you understand that many of the faeries are in the nude, so if you are a bit more on the conservative side, please take that into consideration. My family has excitedly perused the pages and begun their journey on learning everything from water fay to faeries named Grig, and love the artwork exceedingly. Mr. Froud's enchanting prose to accompany the fanciful and whimsical artwork, allowing us a peek into his mind and state as he created this world of faeries for us, has been really enjoyable. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to learn more of the world of the Fae!

I love the art of Brian Froud and this book does not disappoint his fans or readers who seek to learn about the many types of fae-beings he has imagined. His voice even alternates in his writing with the voice of faeries from the realm. The book defines Good Faeries and Bad Faeries and there is a section in the middle that delights! The Good Faerie can be turned upside down to see a completely different (probably bad) faerie, and vice versa as the Bad Faeries section approaches the Good Faeries. There is some nudity among his fae-beings. The drawings and paintings are beautifully rendered and informative.

Brian Froud has found his place an authority on the fae for good reason. This was a fun read with numerous depictions of the faerys populating Mr. Froud's world. I had to take one star because I began to notice that so many of his faery's looked so much alike. After all, if they each have the own agenda and culture why would they mostly have the same body type and facial features. I decided to accept it as a slice of faerys inhabiting Mr. Froud's world.

I love the artwork - it brings back alot of happy memories to have this book again. I had it years ago when I was 14 but my sister let a friend borrow it and I never saw it again. So it's exactly as I remember. Love it!

This book is sensational. I'm a huge Froud fan to begin with, but this book is by far...my ultimate favorite. It is put together so ingeniously, the writing and images leave you with a haunting feeling that is reminiscent of childhood imagination and pure Faery Magic. Will induce a case of the goosebumps each time you flip through it's pages, if you believe in Faeries, then you'll know what I mean ;-) Good Faeries/Bad Faeries is presented in such a unique and imaginative way that you cannot help yourself but to get lost within it's amazing World of Wonder.

An amazing book filled with mysterious faeries both good and bad. The art work is beautiful. The folklore makes you think of a time of magical beings. This leads you to wonder … Could I see them today? Are they there just beyond the veil?

It was the best purchase I have made concerning Prostate health issues.This book is written in an easy to understand format which explains all the questions and answers that you need to know about before you make any decisions It will help you make an informed decision on what steps you might want to take in treating this disease. It explains all the latest options and procedures you need to know about before you make any decision.I highly recommend this book and I know It will help put your mind somewhat at ease.

The doctor recommended that I get this book and read it for more information about my upcoming prostate surgery. The book is excellent. It does a thorough summary of the subject, Treatment options, what to expect from the options, and what you can expect after the selected treatment. it was easy to read, but still has a lot of backup data.Once I had read the book, I gave it to my son so he could could start a lot earlier than I did to keep a very close eye on prostate cancer and the range of tests that can be done for people who have a family history of prostate cancer.Bottom line: it's a very good book, easy to read, and covers the topic very thoroughly. A must-have for anyone considering the treatment options available for prostate cancer.

This is the first book I read as I explored prostate cancer, and it was a great introduction to the subject, giving me language and data that helped me focus my continued research in other books, on the web, and in discussion. It really contains a lot of helpful information in very clear, helpful language. The only reason I gave it 4 starts instead of 5 has more to do with the Kindle version than the book itself. The charts are very hard to read in the Kindle version; they are poorly copied. (Not to mention that I was having trouble getting it synced across devices, and the idiot rep who I talked to on the phone told me to remove it from my device and download it again. He assumed I had an actual Kindle which keeps a backup, which I didn't. I read Kindle books on my Android phone and PC, and these version don't back up data. So I lost all bookmarks, notes, etc. Again, this is no reflection on the book or the author, just the poorly trained reps at Kindle.)

We were recommended this book by an oncologist. We each read it through several times and found it a great introduction to the disease. It's written in language that a layperson can understand, is well-organized, has section highlights, a very helpful glossary, good index, as well as charts and diagrams. It was just what we needed to begin to study this disease. As we do additional research, we have a good head start on knowing the basics.It can be a daunting read as it honestly states the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment option, but it's been extremely helpful.

Discusses possible complications, social effects and includes a glossary of terms that will be new to you. The fifth star is lacking only due to the fact that pc treatments are developing quite rapidly so combination therapies and robotic-laparoscopic surgery are not discussed here though that is common to books on pc published prior to 2005. While I have used several other sources, including the internet, I keep coming back to this one for quick reference.

This is a must have for anyone looking at prostate cancer options. It is easy to read, well laid out, and readily understandable. I bought it for a friend and now two other people have already read the the book. Good stuff.

This book is a good way to learn about prostrate cancer. It's written for people with a non-medical background. The print is very small and cannot be enlarged in the Kindle edition. The font size makes some of the charts unreadable. It helps to prepare questions you might have but don't know how to ask when you meet with your doctor and gives you a heads-up on possible treatment plans. If you or a loved one has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, this book is a good first resource.

I had the shock of being diagnosed in mid-March, and had Brachytherapy performed in early April of this year. My Urologist gave me his copy to read, but ordered my own through Amazon. Got to me in a few days. This book was very helpful in my evaluation of the proper procedure to choose for myself (Surgical removal or radiation). Ironically the information in the book helped me reach the best decision, but helped put me at some ease too; Being filled with detail helps!What I didn't expect was how fascinating the topic would be, even with my cancer diagnosis. Though I will admit some of the line illustrations could be a hair more detailed, it's still a fine book. Anyone facing this should benefit greatly from this book.

I bought this to learn how to play blackjack switch. It's one of those "carnival" games that generally have terrible odds. This game is the exception. Indeed, the house edge on a well played switch game is about the same as a single deck BJ game paying full--not the 6:5 ripoff--amount on a player blackjack, and the dealer standing on all 17's. Wynn pulled it from their casino--that's right, you can't even play the game at Wynn and I can guess why. The book's explanations and instructions are clear, reasonably concise, and truly invaluable. As a die hard BJ basic strategy player for many years, I think BJ switch is a real blast. Try it, you'll like it.

Certainly everything you'd ever want to know about Blackjack - and likely more than a little that you really didn't care about.I found the history to be a bit Long-winded, but I suppose that may interest some people.This book will help you to better understand the game, and in turn, prepare you to be a better player.Some basic card-counti g the uniques are included - which is really too much work for me, but some people will enjoy it.

Very interesting book. A lot more history on the game than I initially thought, but over all I really enjoyed this book. I enjoy reading some of Snyder's articles on the Blackjack Forum so I figured I'd give this book a try. I'm glad I did, I enjoyed this book very much. Looking forward to reading Snyder's "Blackbelt in Blackjack" next.

Great for basics

As a newbie to blackjack I found lots of great tips about Basic Strategy and understanding the cards.A bit less on the history and more on managing money and table play at the casinos would have been good.

This book surely must be on every card players bookshelf.

This is the book on blackjack, yes the big book covering the subject of blackjack. Traces the history and how the game evolves and develops through the years as casinos, mathematicians, professional gamblers and others came up with new rules, procedures, systems, countermeasures and tactics. An indepth study on the cards, card counting explained and how the professional bj players work in gaining an advantage play.

Not an in depth book about any specific strategy, but a good book if trying to find the right one for you.

I already own a copy of the first edition, a paperbound book, as well as the e-book version. I wear a hair system to cover over my balding head and was wondering what was involved in making a hair system; consequently, I purchased this book after doing an online evaluation of books on wig making. What a treasure this book is for anyone wanting to know about wig making, as well as someone who actually wants to do it. I was so inspired by the documentation that I actually purchased all the tools needed (canvas head, good quality lace, human hair, ventilating tools and a fine scissors). I watched several youtube videos (as well as the ones by Ruskai and group on their website) and started ventilating my lace cap. It took a while for me to get the hang of it but I thoroughly enjoyed making my own toupee. It looks as good as the ones I purchased from a wig maker. I will probably continue making my own toups from this point on.I will not repeat all of the good comments others have made on this superb book, but will emphasize that it comes with a lot of clearly written directions, excellent illustrations and good references. I talked extensively with Gabriel at De Meo brothers in New Jersey, suppliers of high quality hair and lace netting for professionals in the film industry and the theatre, and he agreed that this is THE book one should get in order to proceed with this venture.I like that this edition is now in hard cover that is wire bound (Wire O Binding). This is accomplished by gluing the last, thick page of the book onto the heavy, glossy back cover so that the whole book is held onto the cover by means of the last page. The front is not bound to the hard cover at all. This enables the reader to open the book so that it lies completely flat on your work surface. HOWEVER, be very careful not to turn the front cover back onto the back cover (like you would with some spiral bound documents) as this will cause the book to completely separate from the hard cover. It took me awhile to re-join the two and I did damage some of the holes. In order to prevent this from happening again, I will run a wire to completely close over the gap in the Wire O binding at the back of the book where the pages may escape.A better way of binding this book would be to use a spiral (rather than Wire O) binding that penetrates holes in the front and back covers, making it impossible for the two to separate. It would not look as nice as the present binding, but it would permit one to completely open that book so only one page is viewed at a time. Plus, this would make for a much sturdier binding that will last much longer than the Wire O binding.

Phenomenal read and sets you on the right track for professional wig making. I suggest getting the next Volume for in depth styling techniques through the ages (I purchased Victorian to Present), as this book focuses more on the basic foundations of caring for, washing, storing, steaming and even building wigs. I personally was up to speed with most of the chapters, but there were amazing details about adding lacefront to hardfront wigs and ventilating/lace and hair direction and head measurements and tracings. It’s like my new bible for ventilating.

Wonderfully detailed photos and description of the ventilation process as well as many other techniques and terms used in the business. A comprehensive text that I plan to refer to a lot in the future. I also recommend Allison Lowery's other two other texts entitled Historical Wig Styling.

Amazing book! It has all about the different types of laces and hair and needles. It shows you how to take measurements when making custom wigs. It teaches you ventilating and wefting. Great facial hair chapter and styling chapter. Full of beautiful pictures! There's also a really cool section on building wigs with cage bases and finding jobs.

Outstanding book on wigs and wig making. I've rarely read a book on any subject that was as clearly and expertly written.

For anyone truly interested in actually making/building/repairing lace wigs, this book is a treasure! I was actually a little surprised that it goes into such detailed depth with regards to not only wigmaking, but all the other kinds of hairpieces and how they are made and when to use them(when working in theater or tv). The pictures are all clear, and well lit. There's even a few very short companion videos on an accompanying website showing knotting and sewing techniques....The only thing i think would make this book better is an accompanying dvd to show more techniques in real time, and more websites/sources to actually buy tools and lace and hair from. The author makes references to one website in particular, which i visited, and there's very little actually on the website, sent them an email, to which i never received a reply. It can be hard to find all the tools/materials you need for wigmaking in one spot, so i've had to piece my kit together from several different places, including ebay. You've gotta shop around though, cuz several people sell the exact same things, some very reasonably, and some mark prices up dramatically to make a larger profit...So in a nutshell, i would definitely recommend this book. It's like the "textbook" of wigmaking. The book, combined with the author's short vids, and user uploaded vids on youtube are all you need to learn to make/build/repair/knot lace wigs.

Absolutely fascinating -- the walk through of how to make wigs also indirectly explains why they are so ridiculously expensive to buy pre-made.. This book is very straightforward and methodical, and includes a lot of pictures to help visualize the techniques it explains. I would give it six stars if I could.

I ordered this book because I want to learn how to add hair to a lace top wig and instructional material is scarce. I was a bit put off by the price of this book but I think it is worth the money. This book is written by two people that have years of experience making and caring for wigs. They photos are great, the different techniques are great and they really go into great detail in the art of making theatrical and non-theatrical wigs.
