About the Author

Paul Saltzman is an international award–winning film director, writer, and producer of over three hundred dramas and documentaries. He is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization Moving Beyond Justice. Before meeting and photographing the Beatles, he produced Leonard Cohen concerts, attended many folk and rock performances, and danced a lot. He lives in Toronto, where he plays ice hockey several times a week. Pattie Boyd is a British photographer and author who achieved world fame during the 1960s as one of the greatest rock and roll muses of all time. Born in England in 1944, she pursued a successful modeling career before marrying the Beatles band member George Harrison. Later in life, she became involved with and married Eric Clapton, inspiring legendary songs such as “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight.” As part of the rock and roll elite of the ’60s and ’70s, Boyd took countless stunning portraits of some of the most well-known artists of the 20th century. Her photographs of Harrison, Clapton, and other rock icons have been featured in various exhibitions throughout the world. Her memoir, Wonderful Tonight, debuted at the top of the New York Times bestseller list in 2007. Donovan Leitch was born in Glasgow, Scotland. His Celtic roots and his father Donald’s love of poetry and literature have been a constant influence on his life and his music. He became a wandering minstrel, writing his own unique lyrics, and soon became an internationally acclaimed solo performer. His music would eventually reach a whole generation during the revolutionary Sixties with songs such as Catch the Wind, Universal Solider, Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow, Hurdy Gurdy Man, and Season of the Witch. In 2003 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of Hertfordshire and he continues to influence the poetry and lyrics of our times. Tim B. Wride is the founding Director of the No Strings Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing direct assistance to photographers. Prior to this, Wride was Curator of Photography at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). During his twelve-year tenure, he curated over twenty-five permanent collection focus exhibitions as well as numerous larger exhibitions, including “Retail Fictions: The Commercial Photography of Ralph Bartholomew” (1997); “Shifting Tides: Cuban Photography after the Revolutions” (2001); “Donald Blumberg” (2002); and “Trajectories: The Photographic Work of Robbert Flick” (2004). As the other reviewers have said, this is a beautiful book, both text and photos. I also own the older “The Beatles in Rishikesh”; the quality of the photographs in this new version (same text I think, with new bits by Pattie and Donovan and a new intro) is much better.....you can actually see that John’s Martin D-28 has a tortise pickguard! (yes, I’m that obsessive). Even if you own the older book, this is worth buying, and if you don’t own it this is a great bit of Beatle history, especially with the 50th anniversary of the White Album this year. Highly recommended.Update—I was so fixated on the photographs, I now realize Mr. Saltzman’s text is new also. My apologies, and all the more reason to buy this new version.

I thought it was a very good illustration of their time at the Ashram. I really liked Paul Saltzman's story of why he was in India & at the Ashram. I also loved the way The Beatles made him welcome within their Group. Great to see so many different variations of photos seeing that the Press were banned here. All in all, a very good book to add to my Library on The Beatles.

This book book did not come new, as it was stated. it was not wrapped in plastic with an access code needed for the classes. If you need a code for class, buyer beware

If you need the code for a class, do NOT pay for this "NEW" book. The code is NOT included and you will be charged a re stocking fee!

The book itself is great. However, without the product code to download course material, its practically useless. I purchased it new, but, there was no wrapping and no code. It provides a website where I can access free course materials, but, even that isn't true. Waste of money.

The book was fine it was the book i needed but i don't understand why the book was due 2 days after my class ended and i had to get an extension

I have the 6th edition of Janet Burroway's Writing Fiction, bought used since it's a college textbook and thus more expensive than you'd expect. When I noticed the 10th edition listed in upcoming books here on Amazon, and at a cheaper price, I was intrigued. The contents of the book are mostly the same, with some small shifting of topics between chapters, but the major differences are paper type (this edition uses a thicker paper you more commonly see with trade paperback books rather than the thinner paper you'd find in a college text) and the lack of actual stories found in the previous editions. In their place are lists of stories at the end of each chapter. Overall the content is there and probably just as good as before, but you are on your own in hunting down the example stories.

Another gives the story behind the construction of the Enterprise float featured in the 1992 Tournament of Roses parade. The authors are frank in the text: in addition to covering all of TNG's successes they also touch on the turmoil which sometimes befell the writing staff and provide honest criticism of some of the less successful aspects of the show.The stories are accompanied by many rare photos, many of which have never been published before. These include early uniform tests, advertisements, design concepts for ships and alien makeup, and candid shots of cast and crew during production, amongst others. The book would be well worth the price for the photos alone.The TNG motion pictures are not covered, but to be fair the book's focus was the TNG series itself. Including a few sections on the movies would sacrifice too much of the information about the show.There is also an extensive index included, which is very helpful for locating particular stories or pieces of information.Overall, the authors do a wonderful job of putting together a 25th anniversary celebration of TNG, complementing previous works. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about TNG, you'll learn something new here.

I first heard about Star Trek: The Next Generation: 365 at the beginning of this year. From the first blurb I read online I knew I would buy this book. After all, I have been buying "glossy" Star Trek books for nearly twenty years so I pre-ordered on Amazon and began the long wait for the Autumn release.In the months that followed, I saw the pages and teaser photos as they were released to the general public. These tiny glimpses only increased my excitement. One of the authors, Terry Erdman, also penned one of my favorite books Star Trek: Action! that had a tremendous effect on the direction I would take in my professional life.The book arrived early and I have had it in my hands for several hours. I thumbed through it, page by page and read articles attached to pictures I have never seen. The book takes the form of a chronology in images of the run of The Next Generation. Some of the photos have been published many times over the years in books, magazines and on the Internet but there are a precious few that I had never seen and I dare say you haven't either.There are little factoids, snippets of scripts and behind-the-scenes moments that make even this seasoned fan of the series grin with glee. The "never before seen" photos are a rare insight of both cast, crew and visitors to the set. I particularly enjoyed a glimpse into the offices of the writers and producers. Without giving away any of the good stuff: If I may be so bold, you're in for a treat. 365 is quite a book.It is a small shame that the publishers didn't delay its production until all of TNG is released on Blu-Ray. There are "screen shots" that are particularly low-res and with my background in printing they stand out to me like a guest star using a Tricorder backwards. This is hardly the fault of the writers.This book is full of photos that capture the spirit of why I have always wanted to work in television. I hope Terry and Paula are hard at work on another Star Trek book so I can pre-order it and start bothering them about it all over again.

I have purchased several of Paula Block's and Terry Erdmann's books about Star Trek (TOS 365, DS9 Companion and ST: Action!) and every one of them has been outstanding. The Star Trek The Next Generation 365 is no exception. It has outstanding graphics and wonderful behind-the-scenes stories for anyone interested in learning more about the STTNG series.For anyone who is a big Star Trek fan, recent years have seen a long dry spell of anything good from a Star Trek reference books standpoint. Believe me this books is like a long cool drink of water after the drought. I will definitely be using the excellent index to locate specific references and facts.This is a fitting 25th year anniversary tribute to an excellent scifi series which has become a major part of one of the most major franchises of scifi history. Highly recommended!

I love TNG and loved this book. It is an episode-by-episode guide to the behind the scenes experience of the writers, producers, and actors in this show. Some of the information in the book, enthusiasts are likely to already have heard, but I was surprised at some of the insights in the episode guides. After watching the Chaos on the Bridge documentary, I realized that this book did not get into a lot of the production-related drama and misery it took to get this show on the air, but some of that frank honesty comes through in parts.

had a lot of good design, proper calculations for expansion tanks, piping sizes, general considerations and a lot for install. there are a lot of reference mistakes that makes it hard to check work. some of the knowledge questions were wrong. NO Troubleshooting! it's geared for installation only. however if you truly study this book you will learn symptoms and know why stuff is not working it is all there. just no troubleshooting/service module which is what i really wanted. if it was 100$ or less i'd say it would be worth 5 stars, i still want this in my library don't get me wrong, solar module was lacking. for reference i'm an 11yr hvac guy that has 95% experience in forced air. and it was worth it just really wanted some troubleshooting and service condensed in 1module like modern hvacr books do. i flip from chapter expansion tanks to chapter circulatory to chapter properties of water to consider issues. i want to give 3.5 stars but for over 150$ i say again i expected more. no troubleshooting examples etc.

I had wanted to purchase this book for quite a while, but the price kept me from buying it at first.Well, several new projects came across my desk, and I purchased it to design and bid the work.This book is well written and illustrated. I was not only impressed with the author's knowledge of thetopic, but how the information was presented and explained. You could save a small fortune by readingthis book before you design or install a hydronic heating system. I have used other resources for reference,but I have never seen all the information you would ever need, in one resource. This author put a lot of timeinto this book.

I am a contractor that has been looking for a greener approach of building. I had a friend that was interested in putting Hydronic floor heat in his shop floor, and I decided to invest the money and learn the ins and outs of the systems besides the basics you can find for free online.If you hire contractors, plumbers, or HVAC professionals to install hydronic heat be sure you ask to see previous work, or at least follow up with references. ALWAYS get a signed contract. This subject is very much an exact science to get the efficiency, and longevity you desire your system to have to begin with. I have seen several poorly designed systems that cost more money to operate, didn't work well enough, or even worse, didn't work at all. People think it is only a matter of running pex piping under concrete and plumbing it into a boiler - they could not be more incorrect.Personally I have several contacts of mine that have hired professionals to install under floor heating systems - and failed to do it correctly. The home owner is left with a negative opinion of hydro heating because they trust that the installer did the job correctly, but the heating system is just not what they expected it to be. Truth be told if the contractor had read this book it would work correctly.This book is a text book - full of information and proof of engineering. It is well worth the $170 paid for it. It is chocked with 700+ pages of information that even the season veteran plumbers will look to draw information on for the rest of their careers. If you are thinking about building and installing a Hydronic heating system , I highly encourage you to purchasing the first (nd most important) tool of that installation right here.

Took a boiler maintenance class, again... and instructor mentioned this book , it's loaded with information on boilers and hydronics.I would definitely recommend this book for students as well as homeowners.

After natural gas became available in our neighborhood I used this book to design a replacement for the 40 year oil oil-fired system we had. I found the book invaluable for this purpose and it didn't matter that it isn't the latest edition. The new edition covers topics that weren't relevant to my project anyway.

Good information on hydronic heating systems (boiler heat).

Siegenthaler is the guru of modern hydronic heating and this is the Bible. It's not for the faint of heart if you don't have a head for math and science, but if you can wade through it, the potential system performance is quite impressive. This was a crucial foundation that allowed me to design and install a hydronic heating system for my home.

Like most of the people who need a book like this, I work in the industry. In my case I design and specify the systems but have almost no prior background in heating systems. I've seen many of them in the field being put together and know most of the principles behind how they work. This book takes you all the way through from beginning to end and explains what every component does and what the reasoning is behind them. Having it on my desk has made my job immensely easier.

I appreciate how the author's writing feels like it's a conversation, it doesn't seem as boring as most business books. This book is well written and organized, while being insightful and practical. I found the exercises to be very beneficial. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting to fine tune their skills at reading people.

Enjoyable read - need to read it more often - good wisdom

False advertising about kindle price. Awful!

Having finished this book I have mixed feelings about it.From its title I was expecting a more academic approach in both type of structure and writing. Also I was expecting a more direct approach to reading people, in terms of what to look for when in front of someone. Ian takes us in a different was, focusing on the several types of toxic people that we can find in our life’s and forcing us to reflect about those encounters.The writing feels almost conversation like and this has initially put me off (I was expecting something different), but after a while it becomes ok and I was able to read it quite well.Does it deliver on the title? Well, it does, just not the way you might initially expect. Each chapter is structured around a specific theme, there are lessons to be learned that are emphasized, and there are moments for thought and inner analysis. Overall it works.

As a child I loved western movies. I loved that it was always a test of good vs bad and that in the end, against all odds and tremendous sacrifice, the good won. Every movie had a cast of characters and a boilerplate theme that included the helplessly victimized, the powerful bad guy and his gang of henchmen, and finally the good guy that saves the victims from the oppressors. In the end all is set right, the good guy rides off into sunset and everyone lives happily ever after.Ian Tuhovsky’s book The Art of Reading People is that western movie only its real life and the cast of characters that come into our own lives are not as clear cut as those in the western movies. The difference is that real life is far more complicated and that it is not always easy to differentiate the good from the bad, that there are permutations of each, and that different situations may call for different relationships, and, believe it or not, there are instances of where a bad person can be good for us.I’ve read several of Tuhovsky’s books. Have always found them to be well written, organized and if not entirely thought provoking at the very least mind expanding. The Art of Reading People does that. The early chapters appeared to be going down a rabbit hole but as I continued my reading it became clear that Ian was laying the groundwork for his thesis.I found it helpful that each chapter gave an exercise to complete. That helped me to apply what I read to actual situations/people in my life. The deeper I got into the book, the more intrigued I became. In my opinion this is not a quick read but rather one, like a good cup of coffee, should be enjoyed one sip at a time.Well worth the read. Guaranteed, you will gain a new perspective of the people that come and go into your life.

I wish I had developed the insight when I was younger that I have after reading this book. In every section, I recognized behavior displayed by people who have been toxic in my life, but I was blind to the red flags. The most important concept I gleaned from it is that we don't think people capable of doing anything that we would not do. Wrong! I have read most, if not all, of this author's books. This is my favorite! It is interesting, educational, and practical.

This book is giving me an honest insight on how to read people. I have already seen a difference in my interactions with people.

I have read at least four of Ian's books and I have always found them to be extremely well researched! This one is no exception - in fact - this is his BEST book to date! Sometimes reading people correctly is a matter of great business and social importance. Hone up your skills in this area and grab Ian's book - you will not regret it!!!!!

Excellent reference for any RD specializing in Pediatric Nutrition. I have been using this book for my graduate classes and it is my "Holy Grail" for everything pediatric.

ExcellentGood condition and meet my expectations.I strongly recommend.

Packaging is poor due to simple box without protective material inside. The book inside is in fair condition without tearing, small distortion in corner of the book is seen but no problem for reading.
