I bought the digital version and it is very useful containing links and the ability to add highlights and bookmarks. The recommendations are right on and we enjoyed some excursions and restaurants listed in its sections on Tahiti and Moorea. Recommend it.
It has less content than I would prefer. More like a book written after a couple days searching the internet. Maps a plus, as usual. Sloppy: Index search "Visa," for example, has a small paragraph assuring us that people from EU countries and Brazil and Mexico don't need one, but neglects to mention the United States.
Really wasn't all that helpful. More info online than in a book. Travel books are obsolete. This is the last one I'll ever buy.
Many of the town maps contain errors so you'll be walking all over the place trying to find a store, guest house, or something else that was never in the location the map says. Fortunately you are in the South Pacific where everyone is kind and will happily point you in the right direction.
I’ve made two trips to French Polynesia with this book, and it has been a stellar reference. Timely, accurate, and above all accessible, Lonely Planet guides are a wonderful tool. This specific guide is particularly useful at offering tips and suggestions for out of the way locations. We used it to find a wonderful female hiking guide on Tahiti as well as the best lounging beaches on Mo’orea.
I've always liked Lonely Planet books on travel. Easy to carry along on a vacation. This books was full of useful information. I did find the quality of the paper to be not as good as years ago.
There is a monthly guide in the book that covers every month except January which is the month we plan to go. It remains to be seen whether the rest of the guide is of any use.
Very nice publication. Has a great deal of useful information.
